EIGHT is Great!

It's that time again! Dallas is eight months old now, and as I'm not going to be around my computer again for the next couple of days, I'm gonna take this opportunity to write a quick update of what's new with her this month from Dustin's phone. Please forgive whatever strange typos this post may contain...this phone has a habit of changing misspelled words to other words without my knowledge and/or consent. For example, a few minutes ago I noticed that it changed the word "couple" to "coulée." I don't even know what that means! I hope I didn't just curse in a foreign language on my blog. Anyhoo...

This month, Dallas...

-wears 6-9 month and 9-12 month clothes
-wears size 3 diapers
-was 17 pounds and 9 ounces at her doctors appointment last week
-is sleeping about 12 hours a night without waking up in the middle of the night anymore...THANK GOODNESS! She goes to bed around 7:30 or so every night - sometimes a little later, and sometimes as early as 7:00.
-eats oatmeal with cinamon and some fruit for breakfast, and chicken and vegetables for dinner. We are just now starting solids at lunch time so she'll be eating 3 meals a day.
-has eaten apples, pears, bananas, plums, avacados, carrots, sweet potatoes, peas, green beans, butternut squash, yellow squash, acorn squash and chicken.
-still nurses 4-5 times a day
-LOVES puffs and can pick them up and put them in her mouth with great skill.
-got her second bottom tooth.
-had to visit the doctor a couple of times for a bad diaper rash and a double ear infection. She is still taking medicine to treat both.
-still taking two naps a day and will sleep anywhere between one and three hours each time.
-sleeps on her stomach and seems to really like sleeping in the top corner of her crib. She absolutely LOVES her Jaguar blanket and almost always will calm down and get sleepy as soon as I hand it to her. To any other mommies out there strugling to get their babies to sleep, I highly recommend introducing a toy for sleep time.
-still loves bath time.
-still loves her exersaucer. She loves to rock it back and forth and can rock it across the room until she runs into something and gets stuck.
-still really enjoys sitting on her blanket to play with her toys.
-likes her swing, but hardly ever sits in it.
-had gotten to be quite generous with her smiles and laughs and I LOVE it!!
-HATES it when we stand her up against something. She used to like it when I'd stand her up in her bed or against the coffee table. Now she'll put her head down on her hands and just BAWL!

And now for the big stuff...
-can wave "bye-bye" (which really impressed her doctor at her last appointment).
-can clap.
-says Mama and Dada quite regularly.
-has started army crawling...not quite up on her hands and knees yet. She found the DVD shelf the other day and made the most adorable mess :)
-has learned to use her index finger to point and push little buttons on her toys. It is SO CUTE!

She really seems to be hitting the social and fine motor skill milestones rather quickly. Hopefully this month we'll make some progress on the other stuff...like better crawling and pulling up. I am so proud of my smart little girl!

I'll try to post more regularly this month and put her new pics up soon. I've had about all I can handle of this iPhone-posting mess. Have a good weekend peeps!

Aww! I love that I can see Brooke's next milestone a few weeks in advance since Dallas is that much older than her! :) Looks like our girls are working hard on opposite stuff! lol Brooke refuses to do most of the 'important' stuff that you mentioned Dallas doing, but is pulling up, crawling and even hand-holding-walking all. the.time! lol. Have fun on vaca!

I took the liberty of looking up the defintion of the word "coulée" for you... Means "a kind of valley or drainage zone" LOL :) So, you didn't curse on your blog!

Love your posts about Dallas. She's getting so big. This will be a great way to remember things she did at what stages. You are my inspiration.

I am going to have to get with you on this baby making food thing. You have tried a lot of things that they don't even make in stores. Definately want to try to do it for Alexis!

Hope you see you soon my friend. Miss you...

She's sleeping 12 hours through the night without waking up? NONE of my kids ever did that. She sounds like a wonder-baby to me! Or maybe my kids were just the odd ones??

SO glad you're enjoying each milestone with Dallas!

She sounds like a perfect little baby. The cute DVD mess won't get cute after the 10th time in one day. Ha!
